Advanced Video Production for Press Communications & Government staff

£695.00

Course Overview

Plan the story. Direct the shoot. Produce a video that makes its message count.

Producing an effective video involves more than filming and editing. You need to know who it is for, what you want viewers to understand or do, and how to tell the story in a format that suits the message. A quick social media response, a detailed policy explainer and a substantial campaign film each call for a different approach.

This practical course takes you through the full video production process, from developing an idea and storyboarding it to directing contributors, filming and shaping the final edit. You will explore how to build a clear narrative, plan the shots you need and make complex policy or public interest issues engaging without losing their substance.

The course also helps you approach larger productions involving interviews, multiple contributors or locations. These skills are valuable when creating persuasive campaign films, longer videos for websites and YouTube, or polished organisational and corporate content. You will consider how to produce shorter versions of longer films for social media while keeping the central message intact.

Alongside storytelling and direction, you will develop practical technical skills in Adobe Premiere Pro, lighting, sound, graphics and effects. We will look at how to improve footage, select equipment that suits your work and achieve a more professional result with the resources available to you.

"This was a really useful day of training and by the end I felt much more confident in using Premiere Pro and feel excited to start putting my new skills into practice."
