Course Overview

The course identifies the core elements and  characteristics which encourages a culture of effective leadership. It will examine what constitute good leadership and will illustrate different styles of management which enhances involvement of teams and motivates staff. The course has been designed to support those who work in policy and communications divisions within the civil service. It offers guidance for those new to management as well as a forum of review more for experienced practitioners.



The course illustrates a range of leadership styles, uncovers best practice and gives guidance on which approaches support success in a mix of different working environments. This course is relevant to Fast steamers, policy & communication staff with the following grade levels:

  • Executive Officer (EO)
  • Senior Executive Officer/Higher Executive Officer (SEO/HEO)
  • Grades 6 and 7
