From pioneering video production and social media training for MPs’ staff in 2015 to advanced digital public affairs and artificial intelligence in 2026, Parli-Training has spent more than a decade helping professionals navigate the changing communications landscape.
Over a decade at the forefront of digital communications training
Long before artificial intelligence became a central topic in professional development, Parli-Training was helping parliamentary staff, communications professionals and public affairs specialists understand how emerging digital technologies were transforming their work.
Established in 2002, Parli-Training built its reputation on specialist Westminster and public affairs training, developing practical programmes designed around the responsibilities of professionals working in politics, public policy and organisational communications.
As digital platforms began reshaping political engagement, Parli-Training recognised that traditional communication skills would increasingly need to be combined with video production, social media management, digital campaigning and emerging technologies.
2015: Bringing professional video production and social media training to MPs’ offices
In 2015, Parli-Training introduced its first formal Video Production training for MPs’ staff, recognising the growing importance of video as a medium for communicating parliamentary work, constituency issues and political messages.
Alongside this development came dedicated professional training in social media, delivered under the original course title:
Social Media – Managing Your Online Presence.
At a time when social media was becoming an increasingly important communications channel, the programme helped parliamentary staff develop a more professional and considered approach to managing their online presence.
These early programmes reflected Parli-Training’s recognition that digital communications required more than technical familiarity with platforms. They demanded sound editorial judgement, audience awareness, reputational responsibility and an understanding of the political environment.
The principles established through those programmes continue to inform Parli-Training’s digital training portfolio today.
2019: A pioneering approach to Digital Public Affairs
By 2019, digital engagement had become increasingly important to organisations seeking to communicate with government, engage stakeholders and participate in public policy discussions.
Parli-Training responded by launching its pioneering Digital Public Affairs course, combining established public affairs expertise with the growing opportunities created by digital platforms.
This marked a significant development in its training portfolio, bringing together political engagement, digital communications, online advocacy and strategic influencing.
The central message was clear: digital communications should not operate separately from an organisation’s public affairs strategy. Instead, the two disciplines needed to work together to support meaningful engagement and influence.
2020: Supporting communications professionals through digital transformation
The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated changes in the way organisations worked, communicated and engaged with their audiences.
With face-to-face engagement severely restricted, digital platforms became essential to maintaining relationships, communicating organisational priorities and participating in public debate.
Building on its existing experience, Parli-Training continued developing its digital communications programmes, including Digital for Press Officers, helping professionals adapt to the changing demands of media relations and communications.
The pandemic reinforced something Parli-Training had recognised for years: digital capability was becoming a fundamental requirement across public affairs, parliamentary communications and corporate engagement.
2026: Artificial intelligence and the next generation of digital communications
Today, the relationship between technology, communications and public affairs is entering another important phase.
Artificial intelligence is creating opportunities to improve research, analyse information, monitor developments, produce communications material and support policy work.
However, effective use of these technologies still depends on professional judgement, sound research, strategic understanding and the ability to communicate credibly.
Building on more than a decade of specialist digital training experience, Parli-Training now offers six programmes under the banner:
MASTER YOUR DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS
DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS, PUBLIC AFFAIRS & AI TRAINING
The programme brings together:
- A.I Impact 1 – Artificial Intelligence in Public Affairs and Communications
- Social Media Management – Navigating Your Digital Footprint

Together, these programmes address the practical challenges facing today’s communications, corporate affairs, policy and public affairs professionals.
Combining established expertise with emerging technologies
What distinguishes Parli-Training’s approach is the connection between technological developments and the established principles of effective public affairs and professional communications.
Whether delegates are producing digital content, managing social media, engaging political stakeholders or exploring artificial intelligence, the emphasis remains on practical skills and their application to real professional responsibilities.
The organisation’s training continues to evolve as new platforms, technologies and communication methods emerge.
Yet its underlying objective remains unchanged: to help professionals communicate more effectively, strengthen stakeholder engagement and convert digital activity into meaningful organisational impact.
The next chapter in professional development
From its early video production and social media programmes in 2015, through the development of Digital Public Affairs in 2019, to today’s specialist AI and advanced digital communications training, Parli-Training has continued to respond to the changing needs of the sector.
Its latest programme represents the next stage in that journey.
For communications, policy, corporate and public affairs professionals, the challenge is no longer simply to establish a digital presence. It is to develop the skills, judgement and strategies needed to make that presence count.
